Mobile Phones Fry Sperm – Local News – Hot Story

October 20, 2008

Ouch ooch ouch ooch… I just read the creepiest article.  According to some research done in Australia, overuse of mobile phones fries sperm.  Click to Read the Fried Sperm article

Usually my articles are about local events , and at first I thought this wasn’t a  local news article but the more I think about it the more local it becomes.

Tweed Valley – Tweed City Music – JB HiFi

October 18, 2008

I have never ever written an article about a business, especially one that is a large franchise.  But it’s of great interest to a number of people that live in the area that JB Hifi has opened a shop in Tweed South.  As a musician and music love it’s been so hard to buy music in the area that I like and I’ve often been forced to buy from overseas or wait until I go to a city.   JB’s has a large selection of music which is non mainstream as well as the standard stuff that people listen to.

The only other place that has interesting which I like is Wax Jambu in Bangalow.  They ooften have ECM recordings of people like Anouar Brahem, Jan Garbarek and others.

James T and the Tomahawks at the Jamshed

October 9, 2008

Great news, James T former Canned Heat member is playing at the Jam Shed at Chinderah on October the 19th.  James is one of the best blues players around, he’s an absolute master of restraint and creates various music feels that are so far ahead of other players that it is scary.  When I saw him play recently I could hear so much of music history that could only come from living in and playing in a very fertile musical environment and absorbing the musical culture.

The picture below was taken at the Buddha Belly Cafe Mt Warning Road in August,  for more info about  James T and his band live at the Jam Shed click on the following link Jam Shed Chinderah

Email Control for Drunk and Stoned People

October 8, 2008

I had to laugh when I noticed that the Google Guys / Girls had created a new tool to help people control unwanted or should I say regrettable emails that they write in a drunken or stoned state, that will cause them great pain in the future when they look back at the moment and wish they had never ever owned a computer.

It’s called Mail Goggles, you’ll need a Gmail account to be able to use it.  But I ask the question “What if you are lousy at Maths?”

I first became aware of this ridiculous news from Mahalo Daily a few weeks ago. I love this stuff because it borders somewhere between truth and ridiculousness.

Murwillumbah Music Jam – Update

October 6, 2008

The first Courthouse Hotel ‘Have a Go’ jam session/ open mike started last week, the music was of a high standard with Michel Voets sitting in on Bass Guitar and Piano, Robbie Cenda on Guitar and Rex Carter on Drums, also Peter McLaughlin sat in on bass on a number of tunes.  Musicians came from as far as Ballina to play.  The Have a Go Show has now moved from the Pottsville Beach Sports Club after a successful year there.

The local music scene is now staring to come alive again with regular acts touring the North Coast at the Buddh Belly Cafe Mt Warning Road, also a jam night at the Uki Cafe every Friday with an acoustic feel to it.

The Courthouse night seemed to be mainly electric but as most people know these nights can change at any moment, however, with a talented experienced powerful rhythm section on board they can easily adapt to any performer and are willing to sit out if people wish to do a solo spot.
